Hello Corporate Auckland, it is the dawn of a whole new era.
When we walk around the CBD, we see allot of people walking around and rushing around, trying to get to work or avoid the evening traffic or trying to make it in time for that meeting they agreed to attend, that was over booked. But to be fair to the locals, we always notice the joggers taking advantage of that lunch break to go out and run off their worries and work pressure.
A work-life balance has been proven to improve the workplace productivity and we applaud those fighting through the temptation to get engrossed in their work when their loved ones and partners wait for them at home. We applaud those making a point to arrive to work on time but to also leave on time. We applaud those fighting the temptation to grab a quick fast food bite, instead are meticulously planning their lunch and packing their own food. All these warriors deserve a home and that home for all the corporate warriors will be at Kia Kaha CrossFit.
We welcome Fonterra for leading the way and stepping up to our Kia Kaha Corporate Challenge.
We plan to entice 20 warriors from each of the different corporations around the CBD to enter our 12 week challenge.
In those initial 12 weeks, those warriors will be molded into a new breed of fitness. On day one of the challenge all candidates will undergo a baseline test, basically a run assessment and body weight exercise assessment to gauge safe exercise levels for individuals. All these will be re-tested post the 12 week challenge to display the amazing results.
Every year, an annual Corporate Auckland Games will be held to test these new warriors. In that weekend each athlete will be invited to compete at an individual and a team level. At the games there can only be one winner, that winner will be crowned the fittest corporate team in Auckland. We will also be searching for the fittest corporate individual. It will be title well deserved.
Here is a selection of health benefits that are typically reported by the end of the 12 weeks :

Fonterra’s Warriors
On the 1st of March, 2011 – 30 corporate members of the dairy machine Fonterra will embark on Kia Kaha CrossFits’ first 12 week corporate challenge.
Throughout the 12 weeks, each warrior has been put under the test and challenged daily physically and mentally. We will be educating each warrior with new exercises and dietary plans throughout the whole period of the challenge.
We have set up this challenge for many reasons, but most importantly due to our sincere belief in our training methods, our community and of course the solid foundation of CrossFit.
With these tools, add in some healthy competition/prizes, and a couple of tablespoons of self motivation, we have ourselves a dirty big bowl of I’m about to change my life soup………….and we as CrossFitters and members of Kia Kaha know how good that soup tastes.
Each warrior will leave the program refreshed and an ambassador for a new corporate auckland that is not only business savvy but a true warrior in all aspects of the word, ready to face not only work challenges but anything life may throw at him/her. The 30 warriors will stand strong, stand proud and stand as one to spread the word of a new world order.
Watch this space for pictures and updates on the progress and the challenges Fonterra warriors will be enduring and overcoming.

Filthy Fifty Week 1
WEEK 1
A week has just passed and we can see the war paint on our 30 warriors
In this first week we successfully achieved the below:
- Distribution and introduction to nutrition to all the warriors
- Body fat Measurement of the warriors
- Induction and introduction into the world of CrossFit WODs
- Baseline testing done for all – this is a great measure for us as coaches but also for each member to self compete and really gauge the success of the WODs and the diet followed
Targeted achievements for WEEK 2 :
- Hitting those WODS hard
- Pushing the warriors to limits their bodies can cope but their minds may choose to avoid
We want to point out one warrior that stood out this week for their tenacity and bravery. I want to recognize Anna this week for her courage.
WEEK 3
Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a warrior
Now its getting serious and we are about to turn on the heat and expectations will be high. Everyone is stepping up to the challenge.
- All the warriors have been consistent in their training
- Detailed and clarified the deadlift and squats through handouts
Three weeks in and the warriors will be approaching the paleolithic/primal/zone diet. What you eat will greatly improve your strength, your endurance and power. The aleolithic/primal/zone diet is eating real food – protein, carbohydrates and fat in a balance and quality that gives us back our health, energy and helps us burn fat.
You would be stunned by the fast improvement in many people’s niggling health problems when they switch to this way of eating.
Our warrior of the week is Mike (Richi) as the first Fonterra warrior taking part in the CrossFit Games, so lets cheer him on every friday and see how he is able to deal with the unknown WODs about to be announced every week.
